Samantha & Thanh were married in a beautiful family-centered wedding at Rock Creek Gardens in Puyallup WA.

Curious to know exactly how family-centered Samantha and Thanh’s wedding was? Most, if not all of their wedding vendors, were comprised of family and friends. A close friend officiated the wedding, a family member helped with planning, and another family friend provided the catering! It was truly beautiful to see how their community came together to shower them with love on one of the most important days of their lives.

While their wedding day at Rock Creek Gardens in Puyallup WA was absolutely beautiful, let’s dial it back a minute and talk about how they met! Samantha and Thanh met in middle school. Isn’t that so sweet? However, it wasn’t until much later that they officially became sweethearts, and I’ll tell you how. Having recognized Thanh from school, Samantha signed up for a dance class he was teaching at the gym. After a few months of enjoying the dance class together, they began dating.

About a year into their relationship, the discussion of marriage came up. Samantha and Thanh even went out to window shop for her engagement ring. In fact, Samanatha had a sort of intuition that Thanh would propose during the holiday season, which was just around the corner. But, it wasn’t until the following year that the proposal actually happened.

During a weekend getaway to the coast, their first post-pandemic trip together, they spent their time walking along the shores of the Pacific. The weather was less than stellar and exactly what you’d expect from our beloved corner of the world. Windy, rainy, and cold. In fact, Samantha and Thanh were even bundled up in their best rain gear. But they still managed to enjoy the day walking around, watching the birds, exploring, and throwing moon jellies back into the water. They stood against the shore where the sand meets the sea and talked about what their future would look like together.

Thanh wrapped his arms around Samantha and asked, “Will you marry me”. Her response was “yeah” thinking nothing more of it as they had just passed the time discussing their future. To make things more official, Thanh dropped down on one knee, and pulled a ring box out of his pocket. He then asked, “No, really. Will you marry me?”. Samantha was immediately overcome with tears of joy, and replied with a yes!

With their engagement in hand, they set out to plan a wedding that suited their love story & their unique personalities. It was during that time, that I officially met them. Their first time in front of my camera was during their engagement session. We spent a fun afternoon exploring Pioneer Square while capturing their engagement session. A local glass artist even allowed us into their shop to take a few photos. The session was pure magic, and I couldn’t wait for their wedding day to arrive.

When Samantha and Thanh’s wedding day at Rock Creek Gardens in Puyallup WA arrived, there was one small surprise in store! They told me that they had planned a choreographed dance. Knowing that dance played such an important role in the beginning of their dating story, I was excited to see what they planned. Let me just tell you, they delivered, big! Not only did they have an amazing time as newlyweds on the dance floor, but when the dance floor opened, Thanh also led their guests with all the dance moves and the night was full of celebration!

Samantha and Thanh’s wedding at Rock Creek Gardens in Puyallup WA also included a beautifully symbolic tea ceremony. It was a way for them to honor their elders for the role they played in raising them and being there for them during all of life’s milestones, including their wedding day.
