Nina & Dan’s Alki Beach Elopement
About a year ago, three months into a pandemic that changed our world and put our lives on hold, Nina contacted me about photographing her Lincoln Park Elopement in . Due to our governor’s Stay Safe ordinance, we had just opened up to our first phase earlier that month and were allowed to perform some restricted activities. I had been doing some portrait sessions, but all of my weddings were postponed. So, when Nina contacted me, I was excited to help in any way I could!
Nina and Dan are both transplants, originally from Texas and Wisconsin. Throughout their relationship, they’ve lived in several different states and their journey most recently brought them to Seattle for work. They love to hike and do outdoor activities like visiting one of their favorite parks where they shared their Lincoln Park Elopement You’ll see how fun and active they are in the photos. I made sure to use that energy to tell their story!
Meet Our Seattle Elopement Couple
How’d they meet?
Back in Illinois at the gym. Dan approached her!
How’d they propose?
Dan proposed back in October 2018 while they were living in North Carolina hiking at the Blueridge Mountain Range. Nina likes to climb things to “freak Dan out”, and when she turned around, Dan proposed!
Their Lincoln Park Elopement
Location (s): Our Lady of Guadalupe Church and Lincoln Park in West Seattle
Wedding Date: July 11, 2020
The wedding was early on in our states’ reopening plan and careful safety protocols were still being practiced closely. The church was both gorgeous and large and able to accommodate the 10-15 guests close family and friends that Nina and Dan allowed. For those who weren’t able to attend, the church offered to stream the wedding on zoom for them! I was personally very grateful to be a part of this experience because I hadn’t been in a church service in over three months!
Nina’s parents were traveling from Texas and very close to the wedding learned that they wouldn’t be able to attend due to some COVID-19 restrictions. When Nina and Dan FaceTimed them after the ceremony, they saw that they had gotten fully dressed and were sitting in front of their screen just as they would if they could have been at the church with them. It was a truly sweet and emotional moment ( look out for it below).
