Angie and Henry are such a sweet pair. I connected with Angie during the pandemic, and we talked for over an hour about the love she and Henry share, their story, and the wedding of her dreams she was planning for 2021!

For the engagement session, they wanted a spring session that showed the PNW at the beginning of its blooming period. It’s funny- it kind of resembled the world opening back up after a cold winter of quarantine, at the beginning of restoration. We went to the UW botanical garden and arboretum and finished off at University Village for some sweet but quaint city vibes. Though it ended up raining, Angie and Henry are really a positive pair and had fun throughout! I’m so excited to shoot their wedding this Summer!

How They Met

“Henry and I met at work for Seattle Parks and Recreation. We were friends for a few years and started dating in July 2017. Shortly after Henry and I made our relationship official (Nov. 2017) his father, who was already sick, ended up in the hospital. I met Henry at his place after he got back from the hospital from seeing his dad. I could see he was hurting. At that moment I wanted to take all his pain away, and that’s when I realized I had fallen in love with this amazing man. His dad was able to go home a few days later, but we lost him in July 2018. I had lost my father in 2014 and so I could relate to how he was feeling.”

How They Proposed

“On Feb. 1, 2020 Henry and I had made plans to have dinner with his mom. This was not unusual for us, so I thought nothing of it. He let me know we were going to Blue Water Bistro- Leschi and we also invited Andy, my son, to join us. I was not familiar with this place and I hate that I didn’t not do my research about the restaurant prior to going. Maybe it was for the best. Henry, Andy and I arrived at the restaurant and the waitress sat us down at a table for 10. The restaurant was full of people. I knew Becki was joining us and possibly one of her friends, so I said to Henry, “I wonder why she sat us at such a big table”. Henry said he did not know and got up to get a drink from the bar, Andy went to the restroom. I was sitting facing the lake, with my back to the entrance. It was all happening behind me, and I didn’t have a clue. At approximately 7:30pm Henry came back and I can remember him saying something like “I know why she sat us at this table” as he took a ring box out of his pocket. “I want to upgrade that ring on your finger” he continued and asked me to stand up. I was so surprised, I said “No, why”? He asked me to turn around and that’s when I saw that some of our closest friends and family were there to witness this magical moment. I stood up as he continued to talk, I was so excited, that all I can remember was him asking me to marry him, placing the ring on my finger and me saying yes as I kissed him.”
