Let’s have a flashback to Tori and Julian’s beautiful engagement session at the Kubota Garden in the fall of 2021! This adorable couple decided to incorporate Julian’s Vietnamese heritage into their engagement session by donning stunning ao dai cultural outfits – traditionally worn by Vietnamese men and women for formal occasions and weddings. As a Seattle wedding photographer, I always urge my couples to choose a theme that speaks to them. So it was heartwarming to see Tori and Julian celebrate their love while paying tribute to Julian’s background. Engagement session planning is offered to each of my couples, and I always encourage my clients to incorporate something special into their sessions. Seeing Tori and Julian embrace their roots was truly remarkable, and it’s a reminder to all of us that our differences make us more beautiful and unique.

So it was no surprise when Tori and Julian asked to be photographed there!
Fate, Chance, and a Missed Bus
Picture this: a bustling campus filled with bright young minds eager to make a difference in the world. Amongst the sea of students, Tori and Julian stood out. They were both members of a student club dedicated to international affairs, and it was through this shared passion that they crossed paths. Julian had been asked by a friend to join the club for ages but had never made the leap until one day when he missed his bus home. That missed bus led him to the club meeting where Tori was leading the charge. And when dinner followed the meeting, the two sat across from each other and the sparks flew. From that day on, they were inseparable. Who knew that a missed bus could lead to such a beautiful love story?
Wow, these two lovebirds have such an amazing dynamic! To sum it up, they’ve used the words silly, warm, intentional, supportive, and growth to describe their relationship. I mean, who wouldn’t want all of those things in a partnership? And talk about a romantic first date! They went to the original Paseo’s restaurant in Fremont and strolled around downtown, taking in all the sights and sounds. As a couple, they absolutely adore traveling, cooking together, and trying out new restaurants. It’s never a dull moment when these two are together!
An Epic Proposal Abroad
Hold onto your seats because this love story is straight out of the movies! Imagine this: two lovebirds embark on a grand adventure across Vietnam, and in the charming town of Hoi An, a surprise engagement takes place. Julian pulls out all the stops with a thoughtful, lantern-lit proposal after a romantic kayak tour at sunset. With the river as their witness and candles as their guide, a fairytale proposal is made.
