As a Seattle Family Photographer, I am beyond excited to share James & Brianna’s story with you!

This blog post is a little different for me. Normally, I use this space to talk about my couple’s engagements, and their wedding day, or even to provide my top tips for planning a wedding in Seattle. But with James & Brianna, their story has been more of a journey with me and my team, so you’re getting a little bit of everything!

Funny story, I met James & Brianna a little over a year ago when James’ sister Allison reached out to me! James was planning an epic proposal for Brianna and Allison was in on the surprise. The night was going to start out with a helicopter ride over Mount Rainier, where James would pop the question. After which time, James also planned a surprise. He had rented out a restaurant in downtown Seattle and invited 75 of their closest friends and family to celebrate their engagement and enjoy an intimate catered dinner. 

Allison contacted me on the day of the engagement and asked if I was available and I said absolutely! Looking back, the party and the celebration were so beautiful and tons of fun. But saying yes that day to a last-minute request set me out on a bigger path and took me along for the journey that James & Brianna were about to embark on together.

The next time I heard from James & Brianna was a few months later. For their baby shower! Brianna was secretly pregnant the night of their engagement party and it wasn’t long before their family was coming together once again to celebrate their story. Unfortunately, I was not available on the day of their baby shower. However, I did have an associate who was able to take my place! Which, coincidentally is one of the amazing things about having a supportive team in place. It’s allowed me to follow this family through their milestones and stay connected to their story. Although it wasn’t me shooting that day, I was still able to edit their photos and put together the albums they ordered. 

When I heard from James & Brianna next, it was about a year later. Their sweet and totally adorable baby, Benji, had made his way into the world. So, naturally, we planned for a family photo shoot at Lincoln Park Beach in West Seattle. And yet again, we had an amazing time! When we arrived for the shoot that day a storm was brewing. It went from sunny and beautiful to stormy, with hail and rain in a matter of minutes. We decided to sit in the car and wait it out. All it took was about 15 minutes and a wardrobe change and we were back on the beach capturing this amazing family of 3!
