The Ruins Wedding Venue Planning Guide

The Ruins wedding venue is located in the Lower Queen Anne neighborhood, situated north of downtown Seattle and near the Seattle Space Needle (about a 4-minute drive). The venue is just over a 10-minute drive from downtown Seattle, allowing ease of access to your out-of-town guests who have selected overnight accommodations downtown. Or, giving you quick access to the venue from your selected hotels’ getting-ready suite.

If you’re searching for Seattle wedding venues located downtown, you can find a list of 21 Seattle and Seattle area wedding venues through this list.

History

The Seattle wedding venue originally opened its doors as a private, exclusive supper club. At the time of its inception, the owners, who previously ran a company called Market Place Catering, dove into their list of friends and vendors to invite 30 guests to form their founding members. Word quickly spread about The Ruins, and it began to pop up in several local publications, touting the supper club as inventive and extraordinary. From the original 30 founding members, The Ruins soon boasted a list of nearly 800 members.

The lavish, over-the-top decor and interactive elements made it a sought-after location for locals to enjoy a community-centered dining experience. However, during the pandemic, the supper club was suspended, and The Ruins later reopened its doors as a Speakeasy and wedding venue.

Maintaining its original charm and “Cirque du Soleil” vibe, the venue is now available to couples planning a wedding in Seattle who desire a day with lasting impact and a scene-setting backdrop.

Design & Style of The Ruins

Dramatic yet intimate, the design and style of a wedding at The Ruins is directly inspired by the venue’s character. Inside the walls of The Ruins, you’ll find an atmosphere that blends a dash of the famed American Gilded Age with Victorian culture and the aesthetic of a European salon. The venue is packed with antiquities and design elements such as hand-painted murals reminiscent of Italian frescoes, glittering chandeliers, French doors, and hidden rooms.

By far one of the venue’s most well-known attractions is their Animatronic Elephant, a life-sized working animatronic elephant from the 1931 Paris World Exhibition, which now resides at The Ruins.

The charm and presence of this Seattle wedding venue is undeniable, with rich blue tones, gilded detailing, and added ambiance in the form of their in-house lighting experience. The space has an otherworldly atmosphere, allowing you and your guests a transformative experience where the evening is spent in a private club atmosphere with an ethereal setting.
