Chris and Mariko’s wedding at Rays Boathouse was such an intimate day, filled with so much happiness! and all the positive vibes! It’s funny, when Chris and Mariko first reached out to me to shoot their wedding, they told me all about the intimate event they were planning. But, sure enough, as time went on their wedding plans grew into a full celebration of their love!
The couple, who are both from California, originally met at work. Their relationship evolved from a working relationship to a friendship and before you know it, I was shooting their engagement photos at the Amazon Spheres in Seattle! Needless to say, when wedding day arrived, all of their friends and family traveled in to attend their wedding. It was the first time that Chris and Mariko’s families had the opportunity to get to know each other, and one thing that broke through the barrier of that was the dance floor! You’ll get to see everyone partying and having a blast together in the photos below.

The day kicked off with the couple’s first look. When I arrived, Mariko and her wedding party were beautifully dressed and ready to go. Mariko got ready for the day at their apartment, which had a beautifully scenic rooftop. There was no doubt in my mind that we had to take advantage of this space to capture the first look! The weather in Seattle that day was sunny and misty but held off long enough for their first look and portraits. Chris and Mariko opted to have an open first look, with their wedding party in attendance, cheering them on! Many couples like to have a private first look together. But, for Chris and Mariko it was another moment of their day that was focused on celebrating them, making it truly unforgettable.
During the first look, it was the groom who became emotional. As he was preparing, Mariko’s younger brother (who was also a groomsman!) helped Chris get ready for the moment. It was really sweet to see him show up for his new brother-in-law in such a loving and supportive way! Mariko was all smiles when she and Chris saw each other. But her beautiful, infectious happiness and positivity didn’t stop there. She was such a joyful, radiant bride. From the first look to the ceremony, and even on the dance floor, Mariko had the brightest smile I have ever seen on a bride! Speaking of the dance floor, my husband was hired to DJ Chris and Mariko’s wedding at Rays Boathouse. When it was time to hit the dance floor, they were such a fun, lively bunch. Their energy made the celebration special for everyone in attendance!
