Jayda & Christian’s wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle was the union of two sweet souls, in a fun celebration. Seriously, wait until you see Dad hit the dance floor!
Working with Jayda and Christian was such a unique experience for me. While they are both originally from the area, they are currently residing in Chicago where they both practice law. However, they wanted to have their wedding in the summer “back home” in the Seattle area. I also had the opportunity to provide Jayda & Christian with videography services for their wedding day!
Of course, if you’ve been around the blog for a while, you know how much I love working with my couples on their engagement sessions prior to their wedding. It’s a great way for them to shake off the nerves of being in front of the camera. It also helps us get to know each other better, and it gives me some insight into your relationship.
But, it’s not always that easy to set up. Especially if you are in and out of town and in the midst of planning your wedding like Jayda & Christian were. We planned and planned for their engagement session, but logistics don’t always make it so easy. Finally, Jayda and Christan were in town and asked if I wanted to meet with them for coffee.
Prior to this, we hadn’t met face to face. But I was so determined to make their engagement session happen! The day they were in town, it was 100 degrees outside, I wish I was kidding! But, I promised them that we could make the session super quick and squeeze in 20 minutes of shooting. Hoping this would allow them to get some “in-front-of-the-camera” practice before the big day arrived!
With the level of heat we were experiencing that day, and knowing that they were in town for such a brief time but also overloaded with wedding planning, I was beyond excited when they agreed! Finally meeting them in person gave me so much insight into their vibe as a couple. And also who they are as individuals. Christian is relaxed and chill, with a big personality. And Jayda is so sweet! She’s very quiet, but she has such a unique personality. What I love about them most is Christian’s ability to jump in and help Jayda through anything.

At the time of their engagement session, I also got to meet their parents. As important as it is for me to meet my couples and work with them ahead of their wedding day, it’s equally as important to meet their families! Weddings are such a milestone event and create lifetime memories for everyone involved. How much easier would it be for us to work together if I was on a first-name basis with your parents? Or your cousins? It removes so much stress from the overall process and creates a uniquely intimate environment. I always pride my brand experience on executing my couple’s wedding dreams with an intimate & organic approach. And getting to know you & your family, or in this case, Jayda & Christian’s family is one of the many ways to make that happen.
Flash forward to the night before Jayda & Christian’s wedding! The couple was hosting their rehearsal dinner at their wedding venue, the Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle. I went to the venue to meet their family and do a little walk-through beforehand. Although I’m familiar with the venue and the area, I wanted to take another look around to find the best possible locations for their first look. With the walkthrough out of the way, the family invited me to hang out with them. It was such an amazing night and they made me feel so welcome! We spent the night enjoying wine, hors d’oeuvres, and music while relaxing and chatting. And before you know it, the morning of the wedding was upon us!
I like to start wedding day with those coveted getting-ready moments in the couple’s respective suites. From there, I always recommend having a private first look with each other. Jayda & Christian’s wedding venue is in such an amazing location. Which, if you’re not familiar with it, the Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle is near Pike Place. I knew that we had to shoot some wedding day photos out and about in this iconic Seattle district. So we started with the first look, directly in front of the hotel.
As you can imagine, this particular location is busy with street & foot traffic. The sights and sounds can be a lot for anyone to take in combined with the travelers coming in and out of the hotel lobby on the same day as your wedding; it can feel overwhelming in a way that you’ve never experienced. But, Jayda & Christian had one of the most beautiful first looks I’ve ever had the experience of shooting. Jayda was overcome with emotion after tapping her groom on the shoulder, and Christian comforted her in a way that showed me what a loving and supportive partner (now husband!) he is to her. He was so overjoyed at the sight of Jayda in her gorgeous wedding gown, I think it was probably the biggest smile he had all day.
I really want the photos in the blog below to do the rest of the talking about Jayda & Christian’s wedding at the Four Seasons Hotel in Seattle. But I will say this! Their wedding ceremony had the most amazing view of the Seattle Great Wheel, so during the cocktail hour I grabbed my beautiful bride and groom and we snuck away for some more portraits to soak in the views and give them some time to cherish having just become husband and wife!
