An impromptu Seattle Pike Place Market Engagement
Oh, I can’t say enough good things about these two and their Seattle rooftop engagement photos! I love them so much! Maddy contacted me to photograph her engagement session on her roof and wanted to make sure we got some photos in her apartment building to mark the time spent there. When I got there I was taken aback by the gorgeous building with stunning views. She definitely undersold it! When I saw that it was just 3 minutes walking distance from the historic Pike Place Market, we HAD to go!
A Downtown Seattle Rooftop Engagement with Style
We started on her 38th-floor rooftop and because it’s epic, we spent most of our time there. Honestly, we could see most of Seattle from the building and we didn’t need to leave! You’ll see that these two have adorable, charming energy. They’re so fun and I could see that they truly admire each other. I was surprised at how much organic chemistry we had during a lunchtime, weekday session. Yes. You read that right. Maddy is a BOSS and worked in a session with a wardrobe change and a second location on her lunch break! A perk of working from home and being a Doctor of Pharmacy. Dennis hadn’t moved to Seattle yet from Ohio, and she was excitedly anticipating his arrival. We talked about fashion because Maddy is a TOTAL fashionista! She wanted to wear a traditional Kenyan outfit with deep, contrasting tones. They were STUNNING.
How’d they meet?
They met online using a Muslim dating app. There is Maddy’s version of the story and Dennis’s account, but the consensus is that Maddy has a better recollection of the events.
Maddy’s Version of the story:
“The first time I saw him, we were both in different time zones during the shelter in place mandates, and he was probably at work in his “Bob the Builder” hat (he is an engineer). Since we met online, I remember glancing at him and thinking… Oh wow, he’s cute (and he has a captivating smile that got me on day one). We started talking, although he took his sweet time to respond (this is where his memory deviates). For a moment I was certain I would never hear from him again. But he came around and now he won’t stop talking… The rest is history!”

How’d they propose?
“On January 1st! We had a zoom call with my extended family where we culturally received the blessings from the elders to get wed. After the blessings were given, he proposed! Both his family and my family were on the call, so it was beautiful that they all got to share in the moment with us.”
