TWO SWEET SOULS
Desiree reached out to me this summer about photographing her intimate Seattle Aquarium wedding and I was thrilled! They just moved from LA and most of their friends and family were still there. They were planning a very intimate wedding with simple decor, and just under 60 guests at the Seattle Aquarium, a landmark in downtown Seattle on our historic waterfront.
Desiree and Brian are a sweet, sweet couple who recently moved to Seattle from Los Angeles. Desiree has worked as a fundraising professional for a nonprofit organization, and Brian as an event photographer.
How They Met:They met like most couples in the 2020’s, on a popular dating app! (Thanks, Bumble!)

I met these two a near sunset on their wedding day. We started with Brian who was very nervous, and cold because it’s very chilly in November on our waterfront. We warmed him up with our humor, then went upstairs to catch Desiree arriving and getting ready in a location that overlooked the Puget Sound and beautiful downtown Seattle. Her best friends and sister came all the way from LA to be by her side and a part of her bridal party. After hanging out with them, enjoying pre-game snacks, and listening to classic 90’s R&B, the whole group honestly felt like family!
An intimate celebration with their tribe
The anticipation was real! Desiree and Brian shared the most adorable first look at the rear of the aquarium. They had a private view of the sound and it was just these two, our wedding team, and a couple of friends to help keep the reveal a mystery. They laughed, giggled, and kissed. It was truly sweet to witness.
They wed in the Aquarium’s main entrance, directly in front of the Window on Washington’s Waters – a 120,000 gallon exhibit filled with several indigenous fish and invertebrates from the Puget Sound. Immediately following the ceremony, they were taken beneath the aquarium’s main exhibit to an underwater dome for a private toast and wedding certificate signing! This dome is gives a view into the actual Puget Sound waters and even features sharks! It was so cool to be down here at night. Though it was hard to see because no natural light was available. It was still pretty awesome to see large fish swimming by in the dark!
