Marlena and Vincent’s Whidbey Island Wedding happened on one of 2022’s most popular wedding dates. 2/22/22, also known as “Twosday”! This date was popular among couples because the date itself is a palindrome, which means the date can be read the same way forward or backward.
I first shared a bit about Marlena & Vincent’s love story on the blog through their engagement photo session in Downtown Ballard. They had an interesting story about how they originally met! They were both new to the Seattle area and were on the lookout for new friends. So, they decided to set up a “friendship interview”. In fact, Marlena even text Vincent the day before their friendship interview to confirm that it was definitely not a date. Their original meet-up of pizza & beer over a friendship interview turned out to be much more because two years later Vincent proposed to Marlena on a backpacking trip to Goldmyer Hot Springs!

If the pizza & beer friendship date along with their backpacking trip to Goldmyer Hot Springs has you thinking “wow, they sound like such a fun couple”, well, you’d be right! So it was only natural that their wedding day reflected their fun personalities and unique sense of adventure. Their plans to say I do brought them to Whidbey Island. Here, their elopement-style wedding included their intimate circle of friends and family who flew in from the east coast for the celebration!
I absolutely adore this couple and it was such a joy to watch them became husband and wife with a close friend officiating their wedding! To seal their union they joined hands as they jumped the broom. You’ll get to see it in the photos below! Their intimate ceremony then transitioned into a cake & champagne reception where Marlena & Vincent cut into a lavish “naked” style wedding cake covered in fresh berries. There was a champagne toast to the bride and groom as guests raised their coupe glasses in the air. The entire group then headed out to dinner for the night in honor of the new Mr & Mrs!
