An Epic View
What are some of my favorite places to shoot? Without a doubt, Discovery Park is at the top of the list! Nikki and Wayne chose this location for their discovery park engagement because it’s where they shared their very first date. It’s actually Seattle’s largest public park and at 534 acres, it has almost twelve miles of walking trails! I’ve been here several times with couples and families, and each time there’s something new to see. This time it was a dreamy sunset engagement session! You can start up top and get an epic view of the sound, or down below at the beach level and catch the tide coming in. You literally can’t go wrong here.
Nikki + Wayne, a sweet balance
When I first spoke to Nikki and Wayne on the phone this past Spring, we connected over some personal experiences and I knew I wanted to work with them somehow. Wayne sounded like such a caring partner and he even finished some of Nikki’s sentences! We talked about planning their engagement session and I picked up that Wayne was a bit of a jokester and Nikki was the more serious one. I was right. Ha!
I LOVED their fun energy! When Nikki was getting in her head about a pose, Wayne would use his silly personality to bring her back, and then we were all laughing again! Of course, there was nothing to worry about because I’ll always make sure you’re comfortable in front of the camera. But Wayne made it that much easier.
Because the park is so big, you can plan to spend a decent amount of time here while shooting. A two-hour session is ideal. We stayed into the early evening and caught a beautiful sunset! Check out this dreamy, summer engagement session!
….BONUS! They brought along their TWO sweet Samoyeds, Lacie & Kodi!
How they met: At work! They’re both educators with a passion for helping youth. Nikki is an occupational therapist at the school where they work, and Wayne was a sixth-grade teacher. According to Nikki, he couldn’t help noticing her when passing her office and made the first move!
Who proposed: Wayne
How did they ask? Wayne planned a perfect proposal during the COVID summer of 2020! He got some friends arranged and proposed at sunset! COVID restrictions got in his way a bit- but it turned out wonderfully.
